New Edition of The Foundation Center's
Guide to Proposal Writing
Now Available

Reveals grantmakers' perspectives on
the latest trends in reviewing proposals

New York, NY — March 26, 2007. The 5th edition of The Foundation Center's Guide to Proposal Writing has just been released. Nationally known fundraising consultant and author Jane C. Geever, who interviewed 40 grantmakers across the country for the new edition of the best-selling Guide, reveals their priorities in reviewing proposals and provides insights into what is on the minds of funders today.

The Guide outlines the entire proposal writing process, starting with pre-proposal planning tips to help grantseekers define their projects and determine readiness for fundraising. The author provides detailed instruction on essential proposal components and supplies examples of cover letters, project descriptions, budgets, and follow-up communications from real-life proposals. The completely updated 5th edition includes preferred proposal formats, funder cultivation strategies, and tips on re-submitting a rejected request.

With an emphasis on how decision makers evaluate proposals, Ms. Geever explains that "proposal writing is an art, not a science. However…this Guide offers an approach that can be easily adapted to fit the needs of any nonprofit. By adding their own creativity, fundraisers will be successful in writing proposals that will capture the interest of foundations and corporations and generate grant support for their organizations."
