Foundation Center Offers Help to New York Nonprofits in Aftermath of September 11 Events
In an effort to assist New York City nonprofit organizations that have been displaced by the events of September 11 or are involved in relief efforts, the Foundation Center is offering the following resources:
- The Foundation Directory Online
To help New York City nonprofit organizations with their fundraising research efforts, the Center is offering free one-year subscriptions to The Foundation Directory Online. This Web-based research tool includes information on the nation's 10,000 largest foundations and can be used to identify funders that provide support for a wide range of purposes, including emergency funds, building and renovation, human services, housing and shelter, mental health and crisis services, in-kind gifts, and more. To submit your request, send an e-mail to fdonline@foundationcenter.org. This offer is available only to organizations that are not current subscribers to The Foundation Directory Online.
- Computer equipment
The Foundation Center has several used desktop PCs available for free to New York City nonprofits that have lost their computer equipment. The following equipment is available:

- Computer lab space
New York nonprofits that have temporarily lost use of their computer equipment or Internet access can use the Foundation Center's New York computer lab during normal business hours. The lab is equipped with 22 computers running Microsoft Office Suite software and with high-speed Internet connections. Pre-registration is not required, although nonprofits will be asked to sign in at the reception desk. The Foundation Center is located at 79 Fifth Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets.
