Janet Camarena has been named director of the Foundation Center's San Francisco office, effective September 1.
Camarena has been with the Foundation Center for six years, serving most recently as the interim director of the San Francisco office. She is well known in the Bay Area nonprofit community, serving on the advisory board of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, and on program planning committees for Northern California Grantmakers and for the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Golden Gate Chapter Fundraising Day. Camarena holds a master's degree in library and information science from San Jose State University and a bachelor's degree from Mills College.
Foundation Center President Sara L. Engelhardt said of Camarena's appointment, "Janet has already contributed in numerous ways to the work of the Foundation Center, including piloting delivery of Spanish-language reference services in our libraries. We are delighted that she will direct our San Francisco office and know that our work in the Bay Area and beyond will thrive under her leadership."
