Foundation Center Releases Updates on
Corporate and Community Foundations
New York, NY — August 10, 2010. The Foundation Center has released the new 2010 editions of its essential fact sheets on family, corporate, and community foundations. These brief reports provide critical statistics on the resources and giving priorities of these distinct types of U.S. grantmakers.
Key findings from the reports include:
"The information presented in these reports provides the baseline for understanding the unique roles of corporate and community foundations," said Steven Lawrence, director of research at the Foundation Center.
- Corporate foundations reduced their 2009 giving by an estimated
- 2009 saw the first decline in current-dollar community foundation giving recorded since 1994.
Findings presented in Key Facts on Corporate Foundations and Key Facts on Community Foundations come from the Foundation Center's tracking of fiscal and programmatic information on more than 75,000 grantmaking foundations, annual surveys of leading grantmakers, and analyses of the giving patterns of almost 1,500 of the nation's largest foundations.
Also available is Key Facts on Family Foundations, which updates grantmaking and fiscal characteristics of family foundations through 2008. These reports can be downloaded at no charge at foundationcenter.org/gainknowledge.
