$10,000 for consultants to guide transitional planning for Habitot Children’s Museum’s move to a new and expanded facility in Emeryville.
Justice Matters

$10,000 for the REAL (Reclaiming Education, Access, and Learning) Schools Campaign for Young Children to develop local parent leaders and carry out advocacy efforts in the West Contra Costa Unified School District to encourage district policies that are more supportive of the individual and developmental needs, cultures, and languages of preschool and primary grade students.
Kid Serve Youth Murals
San Francisco
$10,000 to support mural artist residencies in Oakland schools. 2nd and 3rd grade students participate in the creation of large-scale mosaic murals for their school that illustrate social studies and science curriculum topics that are meaningful to the children and their community.
Marilyn Avenue Elementary School
Livermore
$8,000 to the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District to pilot the Road Runnerettes, an evening preschool and parent education program at Marilyn Avenue Elementary School. This Spanish bilingual program engages parents and teachers in the preparation of at-risk preschoolers for a successful elementary school experience.
Museum of Children’s Art (MOCHA)
Oakland
$10,000 to develop a culturally relevant and replicable Spanish-language arts curriculum for children in preschool through 3rd grade. The curriculum will be developed during MOCHA artist residencies at the Bay Area Hispano Institute for Advancement’s Centro VIDA preschool and BAHIA School Age Program in Berkeley.
Opera Piccola

$10,000 to support 25 free performances of Opera Piccola’s Multicultural Folk Tales, interactive theatrical productions for low-income families with young children that are performed in homeless shelters, social service agencies, and public libraries in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Sophia Project
Oakland
$3,000 to develop a Resource Library for Sophia Project, which offers child care and respite care services for infants through school age children and parent support for families at risk of homelessness who reside in West Oakland. The Resource Library includes multicultural children’s books, parenting resources for families, and early childhood training and assessment materials for the live-in interns and staff.
World Arts West
San Francisco
$1,000 to create and distribute dance trading and activity cards to enhance children’s experiences of People Like Me, an interactive theatrical presentation of world music and dance.
