GUIDELINES APPLICATION CONTRIBUTIONS CONTACT

The Taconic Foundation was established by Audrey and Stephen Currier in 1958. Under their leadership, the Foundation concentrated its first grants in race relations, child welfare and mental health, giving priority to programs that seemed effective in addressing social inequities, encouraging the enablement of those with the fewest options, exerting leverage on public policy and redressing the balance of philanthropy by addressing issues not on most foundation agendas. The Curriers' pioneering philanthropy was tragically cut short by an airplane accident in 1967. The Foundation has responded to changing needs throughout its history, resulting in its current programmatic areas - housing and community development and youth development.
