Core programs: Earn-A-Bike After-school program, Drop-in Community Service program, Community Partnership programs, and Street Burners Riding program. They are expanding their UgottaGettaBike program they piloted this spring -- going directly to the schools to teach kids bout bike repair; take a ride; and provide a refurbished bike to bring home.

North Cascades Wild
North Cascades Wild program, a 12-day canoe camping, backpacking and conservation service program for urban youth, with four themes: leadership development, community building, sense of place, and stewardship. They work on restoration projects, learn about the region, and experience collaboration and working together as a team.

Potlatch Fund

InterTribal Canoe Journey regranting
Each of the family canoes selected by the Potlatch Fund for support have a strong roster of youth pullers, usually working together with Elders. Native youth also review the grant applications and make the selection through a day-long grant review process. This canoe event has been the spark for many tribes to re-learn traditional languages, songs and protocols (so they can welcome each other to their shores), carving skills (making paddles and canoes), and weaving (making hats, vests, and gifts for use in the potlatch ceremonies).

General shelter operations
For homeless street youth, ROOTS provides not only a place to sleep but also hot meals and hygiene facilities, and professional case management. They report that about ¼ of their clients have made it off the streets due to their support. They recently received a capital grant and were able to expand their nightly capacity from 27 to 45 spaces.

WITS in South Seattle high schools
Support for the program at three south-Seattle high schools with high population of at-risk students.. The students work with a professional writer to engage in the writing process. A teacher writes: "Kids find voice, meaning, empathy, dreams, and support through their writing."

Domestic Violence Community Advocacy Program
Started in 1978 this counseling and referral service has been the sole agency to provide culturally competent behavioral health, substance abuse, sexual assault and domestic violence service to the under-served and low-income Latino community in WA State. Nine service sites throughout King County. Full range of health and human services for families, including a domestic violence program.

Turning Pointe DV Services

The main domestic violence services program for their area: providing shelter and services for about 1,400 survivors and their families each year. The shelter serves 54 women each night (women and children including boys up to the age of 18). They welcome animals because often women are hesitant to leave their pets and will remain in dangerous home situations.
