THE HITE FOUNDATION, incorporated in 1987, is a family foundation created by Lawrence D. Hite, following some success in the investment business.

The Foundation has created this website report of its grantmaking in an effort to communicate its funding approach and activities to the general public, as well as to current and potential grantees. The Foundation is a member and supports the work of Philanthropy New York (formerly the New York Regional Association of Grantmakers) and the Council on Foundations.

The Hite Foundation makes grants of approximately $350,000 annually. Given its relatively limited resources and part-time staff, the Foundation considers proposals by invitation only.
