he Mission of the California Psychological Association
Foundation is to enhance the delivery of psychological services in
California with an emphasis on implementation of strategies to increase
ethnic diversity, cultural competence, public knowledge, and access to
appropriate and sensitive mental health care.
CPA-F is committed to increasing the number of psychologists who are
proficient at working with diverse populations. CPA-F is also dedicated to
educating the public, graduate psychology students, as well as practicing
psychologists regarding psychological knowledge and services that promote
community health and well being.
It is the strong belief of the CPA-F that all persons regardless of culture, race,
sexual orientation, or ethnicity have the right to enjoy the benefits of effective
mental health preventative and treatment services. A drastic shortage of
licensed psychologists who treat racially, economically, sexually, and socially
diverse populations exists in California creating a chasm between the mental
health needs of California’s citizens and the number of culturally competent
trained psychologists. |
