The Bufka Foundation is a family foundation located in suburban Chicago. Our mission is to provide funds to organizations that reach out to people in desperate need. At this time we are focusing our grantmaking geographically in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and the northeast region of Vermont.

The Bufka Foundation cannot support groups that do not have tax-exempt status or that do not conduct tax-exempt activities. This means that, to comply with IRS regulations, the Bufka Foundation cannot 1) fund organizations involved in electoral campaigns; 2) contribute to support lobbying at the federal, state or local level; or 3) support private, in contrast to public, interests. In addition, we cannot make grants to individuals.

The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals at this time. If your organization would like to be considered for an application request, please send a letter of inquiry with some brief general information about your organization, its program, and support. The Foundation encourages interested organizations to respect the environment by sending information via email. The trustees periodically review this information in order to invite new grant applications from organization whose work coincides with the mission of the Foundation.
