The Foundation Center has published a variety of recent special research reports on specific areas of foundation funding. These include:

Key Facts on Family Foundations (2008), which documents the dimensions and giving interests of the family foundation community.

Spotlight on Economic Grantmaking in Ohio (2008), which looks at Ohio grantmakers and recipients, and profiles of two unique Ohio grantmakers, the Fund for Our Economic Future and the Generation Foudnation.

More Than Grantmaking: A First Look at Foundations' Direct Charitable Activities (2007), which tracks the growing role of operating programs—known as direct charitable activities—as a part of the work of U.S. foundations.

Giving in the Aftermath of the Gulf Coast Hurricanes: Report on the Foundation and Corporate Response (2007). In addition to tracking funding commitments in the aftermath of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, as part of the study, the Foundation Center interviewed representatives of ten of the top 25 independent foundations based on overall giving for relief, recovery, and rebuilding activities.

Ohio: The State of Philanthropy (2007), which takes a look the first six years of the new century, discerning giving trends and patterns.
