A Special Webinar Series for Nonprofit Startup Organizations

The third session in the series is "Defining Mission and Vision," presented by Oliver Tessier.

Defining Mission and Vision

When: Friday, February 1, 2008, at 2:00 pm EST

Presenter: Oliver Tessier, Principal, Oliver Tessier & Associates

Program description

You know what your nonprofit does, but how do you lead decision makers to agree on a handful of words that articulate your purpose and the goals you want to achieve? Whether your organization is new or you're reconsidering mission and vision for strategic planning, this one-hour program will explain the importance of distilling your message and offer ways to engage your board and staff in developing statements they can own.

Oliver Tessier

Before founding Oliver Tessier & Associates in 2001, Oliver Tessier was executive director of the Support Center of Washington, the most comprehensive training and consulting resource for nonprofits in the metropolitan DC area at that time. Under his leadership, the Center served approximately 2,500 nonprofits annually, initiating two separate series of Nonprofit Leadership Development Institutes with Georgetown University. For the Support Center Mr. Tessier provided consulting services; he also designed and delivered many public presentations and professional development workshops. In previous roles, Mr. Tessier was vice president for finance and administration for Planned Parenthood of New York City and the first organizational development officer for the Public Education Network. At present, he is a member of BoardSource's Editorial Advisory Board and a columnist for Associations Now. Mr. Tessier works as a consultant and facilitator, specializing in planning, governance, and leadership development.
