Profile of the editor, Edward Skloot

Since 1989 Edward Skloot has been Executive Director of the Surdna Foundation, a $575 million family foundation headquartered in New York City. For nine years before that he was President (and founder) of New Ventures, a nonprofit consulting organization. The firm's specialty was enterprise development and management improvement for nonprofits, and policy studies and evaluations for foundations. He also has served as Deputy Commissioner of Mental Hygiene of New York State and Deputy Administrator of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs of New York City.

Mr. Skloot is the author of Smart Borrowing: A Nonprofit's Guide to Working with Banks and he was editor and principal author of The Nonprofit Entrepreneur. He has written numerous monographs, articles and chapters about management, marketing and social policy issues.
