Why is there no information on foundation grants for the purchase of a home?
Foundations typically fund nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. These are organizations whose purposes are charitable, educational, scientific, religious, literary, or cultural. By and large, foundations do NOT make grants to individuals for the purchase of a home. If you are trying to purchase a home, we recommend that you visit the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) instead.

The USDA's Rural Development page provides information on its housing programs on its Web site.
Feel free to look through our general FAQs for Individual Grantseekers though it is unlikely that you will find outright grants to individuals for the purchase of a home.
