AScribe
Ascribe is a low-cost national public interest newswire that includes hundreds of nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies, including universities, think tanks, medical and scientific research centers, public policy advocates, professional associations, public relations agencies, and private and corporate foundations that are sending news and information to the news media, Web sites, portals, and online services. News releases can be organized around specific topics or from particular institutions and can be customized for geographical regions or demographic groups. AScribe's Web site has an example of the Live Newswire, with news releases that have been issued by members during the past seven days.

Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action
The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action is a neutral open forum that brings together researchers, scholars, and practitioners from around the world and works to strengthen the research community in the emerging field of nonprofit and philanthropic studies. Its main forms of outreach are an annual conference, a variety of publications, and electronic discussions and seminars. The association's Web site includes information about these various activities, as well as the option to register for a listserv-based discussion group.

Board Cafe
Board Cafe, published by CompassPoint Nonprofit Services, is a monthly electronic newsletter for members of nonprofit boards. Each issue includes board information, opinions, news, and resources, with a "Main Course" article that can be applied to board work. The Web site also has access to past issues of the newsletter dating back to 1997.

CharityChannel
CharityChannel is a Web site that features articles and reviews written by a volunteer community of nonprofit-sector professionals from the fund raising field of nonprofit periodicals, books, and software. For a low annual fee, the reviews, discussion forums with thousands of participants and a searchable career database can be accessible to visitors.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy
Like its biweekly print analog, The Chronicle of Philanthropy's Web site is full of useful information for fund raisers, grant makers, nonprofit managers, and others. The site is organized into broad topic areas-Gifts and Grants, Fund Raising, Managing Nonprofit Groups, Technology, and Jobs. It includes a summary of the contents of the Chronicle's current issue, with an archive of articles since 1998; a database of all corporate and foundation grants listed in the Chronicle since 1995; a nonprofit handbook which is a searchable database of more than 1700 items; surveys conducted by the Chronicle and reports of other surveyors conducted by other organization; job opportunities in the nonprofit sector; a listing of upcoming conferences and workshops; and annotated links to other nonprofit resources on the Internet. News on nonprofit employers, technology companies, fund raising service companies, consultants, and direct-marketing service companies is also available. Visitors can also sign-up for free e-mail updates about changes to the site and breaking news stories. Some of the material is available only to Chronicle subscribers.

Contributions Magazine
Contributions Magazine offers current and archived feature articles of its bimonthly print publication on the Web site, and an index of the current issue's other articles, available by subscription. The site also contains a list of articles pertaining to nonprofit issues, book reviews of its own current fundraising publications, and a "descriptive forum" of links to sites that offer services or products related to the nonprofit sector.

Fundsnet Services Online
Fundsnet Services Online is a comprehensive and searchable directory of funders, funding resources, and scholarship opportunities on the World Wide Web. Most links are annotated, and the Web site also includes a section organized by subject area.

GuideStar
Produced by Philanthropic Research, Inc., GuideStar offers a searchable database of more than 850,000 United States nonprofit organizations; nonprofit sector news and articles; an online marketplace to find requests for donations, in-kind gifts, volunteers, and job postings; a conference calendar; and additional resources for nonprofits.

HandsNet
HandsNet is a membership organization of more than 5,000 public interest and human services organizations. The Web site features articles and alerts, which provide daily news updates on human services issues and legislation; the WebClipper news and delivery service, with human services headlines from hundreds of Web sites that can be tailored to your interests;community development information important to low-income communities; and information on training and capacity building programs, including a Mobile Technology Classroom and information consulting and knowledge-management services.

Idealist
Idealist, a project of Action Without Borders, is available in English, Spanish, French, and Russian. It has a searchable network of more than 30,000 nonprofit and community organizations in 165 countries, which can be browsed by name, location, or mission; a searchable list of volunteer opportunities; hundreds of job, consultant, and internship listings; and listings of events, programs, and publications. News articles, commentary, reports, and essays related to NGOs are updated frequently. My Idealist allows you to register for personalized e-mail updates, job and volunteer information, and connections to others with similar interests.

Interactive Knowledge for Nonprofits Worldwide
Developed and maintained by Raffa & Associates, P.C., Interactive Knowledge for Nonprofits Worldwide is a collection of links to online education, fundraising, governance, human resources, legal issues, legislation, strategic planning, board governance, financial management, and voluntarism resources for nonprofit organizations.

Internet Prospector
Internet Prospector is a nonprofit service to the prospect research community, produced by volunteers nationwide who "mine" the Web for prospect research "nuggets." Although designed for nonprofit fundraisers, anyone seeking tools for accessing corporate, foundation, biographical, international, and online news sources will find this Web site useful. You'll find an online newsletter and an archive of past issues. A search engine is also provided, allowing you to quickly search for information from back issues located on the site. An option to subscribe to the free monthly newsletter is also available.

IUPUI University Special Collections
The Special Collections department at the University Library of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) encompasses the manuscript collections, university archives, and rare books, and the Joseph and Matthew Payton Philanthropic Studies Library. The Web site has The Philanthropy archive, which include the historical records of organizations and individuals that have worked as advocates for the nonprofit sector, fundraising firms that help nonprofit organizations raise money, foundations and individual philanthropists, and nonprofit organizations that provide social services, particularly in central Indiana.

National Center for Charitable Statistics
The National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) works with the IRS and other government agencies, private sector service organizations, and the scholarly community to develop data on nonprofit organizations and their activities for use in research on the relationships between the nonprofit sector, government, the commercial sector, and the broader civil society. Visitors to the Web site can download microdata on nonprofit organizations, view or download database documentation and data dictionaries, and download IRS forms and publications, from which most of the data is collected.

New York Nonprofit Press
New York Nonprofit Press provides comprehensive news and in-depth analysis on social services issues and events and is distributed on a monthly basis to 4,000 nonprofit health and human services agencies throughout the New York metropolitan area. The Web site also has archived issues, job listings, calander of events and community forum.

Nonprofit Charitable Organizations
Nonprofit Charitable Organizations is a mini-Web site within the comprehensive About.com site that serves as a useful guide to resources and information about nonprofit organizations, foundations, fundraising, technology, educational opportunities, jobs, and more. Visitors to the Web site can search feature archives as well as the entire About.com site, participate in chats, post a resume, and register to receive newsletters via e-mail.

Nonprofit FAQ
The Nonprofit FAQ Web site is an online resource of information and advice about nonprofits, taken from discussions on e-mail lists and other sources. This frequently asked questions file has five main categories: organization, management, regulation, resources, and development, as well as several sections with a more specific focus.

Nonprofit Issues
Don Kramer's Nonprofit Issues is a newsletter that addresses legal developments and events that affect nonprofit organizations and employees. Visitors to the Web site can read selected highlights from past issues and purchase Ready Reference Pages, which summarize the rules and regulations governing various aspects of nonprofit organization. It also has tax reports and volunteering. Trial and regular subscription orders can be placed online.

Nonprofit Prophets
Nonprofit Prophets was designed to empower students to understand and positively impact an issue they see in the world. The Web site has a comprehensive index of annotated links, organized by topic, to resources that aid in research and the investigation of problems. Categories include the environment/ecology; trees and animals; global conflict/politics; family issues; homelessness, hunger, and poverty; disasters; and major online news sources.

The Nonprofit Times
The NonProfit Times is a biweekly print publication covering nonprofit management issues. The Web site has selected articles and features from current and archived past issues of the publication. Also included are a classified employment advertisement section and a resource directory that lists names and addresses of service-related organizations.

Philanthropy Journal
The Philanthropy Journal reports on state, national, and international nonprofit news. Published by the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, the Journal addresses issues of fundraising, donations, management, volunteering, and technology in the philanthropic and nonprofit community. The website addresses the difference resources it has: special reports, management, leadership, marketing/communication and events. A free weekly e-mail news bulletin and job postings are available through the Web site.

Philanthropy News Digest
The Philanthropy News Digest (PND) contains abstract summaries of original articles, press and news releases, grantmaker Web sites, and other items related to the world of philanthropy. PND also includes the RFP Bulletin, which provides a brief overview of current funding opportunities offered by foundations or other grantmaking organizations; Connections, a guide to Web sites containing cutting-edge issues related to philanthropy; the NPO Spotlight, which highlights the activities of a different nonprofit organization or NGO each week; newsmaker interviews; book and Web site reviews; a conference calendar; the Job Corner; a message board; and the searchable PND archive.

Planned Giving Today
Planned Giving Today offers resources for gift-planning professionals, including excerpts from its monthly print newsletter and a list of planned giving resources. There's also a Planned Giving Mentor that works with newcomers on gift-planning, giving them a starting point to seek and understand the resources on the site.
