Case Study

Afghanistan Institute of Learning
  • Began in 1995 as an underground education provider for Afghan women
  • A sustaining donor since 1997, the Global Fund for Women has committed more than $260,000

Results

  • Since 1995 has trained 13,000 teachers and educated more than 350,000 women and children
  • Now operates 41 Women’s Learning Centers
  • Founded Gawhar Shad University to provide post-secondary education for women
