Shelley Trott Shelley Trott, program officer for the arts at the new Kenneth Rainin Foundation, discusses the foundation's grantmaking and arts portfolio, which will begin accepting applications July 12th-August 13th. The Kenneth Rainin Foundation supports inspiring and world-changing dance, theater, and film in the San Francisco Bay Area. About Shelley Trott

Shelley Trott has worked as a performer and advocate in the arts for over 20 years in many capacities: dancer, choreographer, producer, arts administrator, fundraiser, teacher and filmmaker. She co-founded Rapt Productions with Austin Forbord in 1997, a multifaceted organization joining a performance group and a film company whose primary focus was the creation and documentation of dance. Rapt continues to be the premier documentarian of dance in the SF Bay Area. Ms. Trott's choreography has been presented in numerous festivals and been nominated for two Isadora Duncan Dance Awards. In 1999, Ms. Trott designed a funding program to help small and mid-size dance companies achieve long-term sustainability and success.

Ms. Trott's filmmaking credits include dance films and documentaries, most notably, "Artists in Exile: a Story of Modern Dance in San Francisco." She currently co-directs the Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival, an annual children's film festival in Alameda, CA.

Ms. Trott earned a BA in dance from Wesleyan University and an MFA in performance and choreography from California Institute of the Arts. She currently works as the Arts Program Officer for the Kenneth Rainin Foundation and is Chair of the Board of Directors of KUNST-STOFF, a cutting-edge contemporary dance company in San Francisco.
