Current economic challenges are making it more important for arts and cultural organizations to focus on the sustainability of what each agency does uniquely different than others. A key to sustainability is being ‘competitive’ in this uniqueness and looking to partner with others to address areas in which the organization is not strong.
This presentation will highlight keys to organizational sustainability for arts and cultural organizations. Since building collaborations and partnerships is a challenging and complex process, the presentation will also provide leaders an opportunity to learn about the various types of partnerships (including collaboration) and their implications, to learn a successful process for selecting and implementing the appropriate type of partnership and determining the appropriate partner, and to discuss the challenges associated with developing or implementing nonprofit partnerships.
Attendees will also learn the essential information and practical tools needed to ensure a successful collaboration. Additionally, the session will include time for the participants to explore potential partnership opportunities in Atlanta and their likely challenges.
In this class, participants will:
- Discuss the trends/challenges of mission-based organizations requiring more formal partnerships that often alter an organization's control and autonomy.
- Learn the keys to organizational sustainability.
- Learn a strength-based approach to self-assessment of an organization’s partnership needs and partnership opportunities.
- Understand the various strategic partnership options.
- Learn a process for selecting and facilitating the appropriate partnership option.
- Learn about typical challenges with developing and implementing a more formal nonprofit partnership.
- Explore potential artistic/cultural strategic partnerships.
