Oracle Corporation has announced a gift of software and curriculum valued at more than $7 million to the
Information Technology Research Center (ITRC) at the University of Arkansas'
Sam M. Walton College of Business.
The gift, which was presented by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison at a ceremony on the UA campus, includes database, diagnostic, and
data mining and data warehousing software. The center will use the products to enhance its curriculum in business
intelligence, enterprise computing, and decision support systems.
"Our objective with this curriculum is to produce a breed of professionals who can thrive in an increasingly complex IT
environment," said Fred Davis, chair of the school's information systems department. "The Oracle gift helps set the Walton
College and the University of Arkansas apart from other institutions by supporting our commitment to cutting-edge
technology and 'industrial strength' enterprise computing education."
