The CommunityCare Foundation in Springdale, Arkansas, has announced grants totaling $2.48 million to twenty-one local nonprofit organizations, the Springdale Morning News reports.

Grants awarded in this funding round included $756,000 to Ozark Guidance for the delivery of mental health and social services at area schools, and $450,000 for mental health services at Harp Elementary School in Springdale and Apple Glen Elementary School in Bentonville. Additional grants were awarded to support school-based social services at elementary schools in Bentonville, Decatur, Gravette, Siloam Springs, and Springdale, including early childhood education initiatives at Decatur Elementary School, Gravette Duffy Elementary School, Siloam Springs Elementary School, and Springdale School District.

The foundation also awarded grants in the area of immigrant services, including $55,000 to the Hispanic Women's Organization to implement guiding, empowering, and mentoring programs; $50,000 to the Ozark Literacy Council for adult education and job training; and $50,000 to UA Medical Sciences to continue a medical interpreter training program at the local Arkansas Health Education Center. In addition, the Jones Center for Families received $500,000 for general operating expenses and the Community Clinic at St. Francis House received $120,000 for medical and dental services.
