Mission: Our primary business is to provide high-quality news and entertainment to audiences worldwide. The company believes that the better informed people are, the more capable they are of making choices that contribute to their own well-being and to that of their communities.

As a leading provider of information through sophisticated media technology, we believe our role as a corporate citizen is integral to our success. We adhere to the same philosophical beliefs and strive for the same level of excellence that underpins our network programming. We must ensure that our audiences - the people in our communities - have access to information and have the ability to understand process and act on it. We consider it our responsibility to help people receive and process information so they can make intelligent decisions in matters affecting their own lives, their communitities and the future of both.

What are the foundation's current priorities/programs?
  • EDUCATION
While we support efforts to educate and inform adults, our educational outreach chiefly targets at-risk middle school-age children (those between the ages of 10 and 14) in order to shore their self-esteem through mentoring, learning opportunities and emotional support.
  • ENVIRONMENT
As a global company, we believe in our role as a corporate citizen of the world. We believe it is our responsibility to carry out the vision of our founder to protect the earth for generations to come.
  • THE ARTS
We donate to the arts in Atlanta in order to contribute to the growth of our headquarters city as a vibrant, international city capable of attracting and retaining the best talent for our workforce, and to support the expressed interests of our employees. Grants are primarily made to Atlanta based organizations.

    Background:
Proposals should be mailed to the manager of Corporate Contributions or emailed to corporate.contributions@turner.com.

A committee meets every couple weeks to review proposals that fall within the focus areas and guidelines.
    Objectives:
  • Support the company's business strategy
  • Align with employees' interests
  • Complement our employee volunteer programs
  • Brand the company (Turner or TBS, Inc.)

Tell us about a funding partnership you consider to be a great success and why.
A great funding partnership is our Discover Concerts at the Atlanta Symphony. TBS, Inc. sponsors these concerts for school children, performed during the day. It fits our focus of education of middle-school children and supporting the arts.

Another great partnership is with the Alliance Theatre. A TBS, Inc. executive is involved with the organization. Because of our sponsorship of the Hertz Stage, the employees get a free night of culture with complimentary tickets. Turner has great branding and visibility with this sponsorship.
