The Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida has announced grants totaling $623,073 to twelve Florida nonprofit health
clinics and community outreach programs. The Blue Foundation’s Winter 2003 grants allow these programs to address serious healthcare issues such
as diabetes, cervical cancer, mental health and access to prescription drugs.
Included among the grants were
awards of $75,000 to the Good News Care Center of Florida City; $50,000 to the Migrant
Association of South Florida/Caridad Health Clinic of Boynton Beach; $100,000 to WomanKind of Key West; $67,035 to Rural
Needs in Brooker; $50,000 to the Clearwater Free Clinic; and $50,000 to the Diabetes Coalition of St. Lucie County.
According to foundation officials, the grants are intended to support programs that provide care for Floridians who do
not have access to appropriate healthcare options in their community.
