Arts Month Month Making the Case for Fiscal Support to Individual Artists

Atlanta

Come learn about fiscal sponsorship for artists.

90 minutes

Are you looking for funding as an artist but having trouble finding grantmakers who fund individuals? Fiscal sponsorship may be the way to go.

Since most foundation funding is awarded to nonprofits rather than to individuals, affiliating yourself with an organization or obtaining a fiscal sponsor can increase your likelihood of receiving funding. Most such affiliations with fiscal sponsors are rather formal, based on a written contract that spells out who will do what, and some sponsors will extract a fee for this service.

To start the workshop, Lisa Moore, Executive Director, Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, will discuss the legal aspects of fiscal sponsorship.

Following this, representatives of local organizations who provide fiscal sponsorship opportunities for artists will participate in a panel discussion to gain a better understanding of fiscal sponsorship for artist-led projects from a variety of perspectives. Carolyn Morris, Executive Director of Alternate ROOTS, will moderate.

Panelists will include:

  • Adam Natale, Fractured Atlas
  • Bailey Barash, Filmmaker
  • Antoine Haywood, People TV
